Anyone have a custom diner on their layout other than Miss Mollys or the K Line ones. I’m looking for one and not really liking the pre fabbed ones so trying to get some ideas.

If your looking for a kit. www.twinwhistle.com. makes a small one that’s layout friendly with pretty much all wood construction. This kit has been around it seems forever.
There are a number of diners that have been offered over time. In addition to the twin whistle, bar mills has Sweaty Betty’s, Fos Scale makes a lunch car
There are others. Those silver car diners were “pre fab” in real life…
here’s an old thread I found with google
Here is another homemade Diner made from an American Flier passenger car body picked up at a train show for a few dollars.
The S gauge car shell was just the size for the smallish Main Street. A base or foundation was made from 1/8 inch Masonite and covered with brick paper. Two 12 mini Christmas tree lights were hung from the ceiling for illumination. Parchment paper was used for windows and silhouettes were drawn with a fine Sharpie. An exhaust fan was added to the roof along with a sign saying “Jake’s Diner”.

Here is the story of my favorite custom made diner:
I have a White Tower I built from plans, if you would like the plans send me an E-mail, genemaag@yahoo.com, A diner I made from a Lionel 610 Passenger car and The Bellerose Diner I scratch built with Polystyrene.

Thanks for the tip -- I'd been looking for my next kit/kit-bash/scratch-build project, and after looking at several alternatives, I decided to order the Whistlestop Diner from Twinwhistle.com:
I'll post the result when I get and finish it!
