I am a big fan of MOW equipment.  Since there is not much out there I have made several pieces myself.  To my knowledge no one makes an actual ballast hopper.

Here are two cars that provided me inspiration.....

I made the decals except for the UP herald and the black freight car data placards.  I topped the car off with road ballast from Dennis Brennan.  It is a fantasy car, but I am very happy with the finished product!

T4TT you made a very good looking ballast car.  I now want to build one for UP.  I made a ballast car a few months ago, some what like the one in your20180412_104138 pictures.  Here's a few pictures for the way I made it....

Cut off bottom doors and glued on flat styrene plate.

Made new bottom ballast doors. Did not add extra details to the doors or the bottom of the car.
