I cut my GG track about 1/8 to 1/4 inch longer than needed with the cut off wheels (1-1/2 and 2"). The cut will be at an angle, then I make the final cut. That way your dremel will be at the 90 degree angle to the end of the track for the final cut.  I then open up the end of the rail where the track pin goes, with a track pin and then pull it out using a pair of pliers.

Use a full new wheel to make the 1st cuts of track.  A wheel that is worn down will work to cut the final cuts. You can ware down a wheel to 3/8 to 1/2 inch and it will still cut an individual rail end.

I used the older standard wheels and they cut fine but break pretty easy if you get off 90% from the cut.    Now for most work I used the 2 inch wheels, not because of size but because they are impregnated with fiber glass or something and much much sturdier than the old ones.     I have actually used them sideways to to do small grinding jobs.    I recommend giving them a try.
