6E1FB627-7500-4032-899B-5AEA2E1313BBBought this Dakin S gauge battery SP Daylight set at Trains and Coffee this past Saturday. Beautiful looking, but….. when I put batteries in it only ran in reverse, then started smoking. I found one loose wire and one melted wire. Replace both wires and it now runs great.

Wow! I've seen the B&O freight set, but never saw or even heard of the SP passenger set. Nice stuff.

You sure have some great train meets down south. Our monthly TCA meets here in the Bay area are MILES and miles away from where I live.

I had the B&O set at one time. Wish I hadn’t sold it. The Daylight set is real tough to find complete. I’ve seen a car now and then, but never a set.
We have 3-4 meets available a month. Some close, some an hour away. There’s also a SanDiego meet I hardly ever go to.

Wow...I hate you! 😄😄😄 Seriously, that's awesome. I can't even imagine what that must be like.

I see your town (Yorba Linda) has a population of over 60k; the population of all of Lincoln County (where I am) is not quite 50K. 🙂

The meets don’t compare in size with a lot of areas, but at least we have them. A chance to be with buddies, buy trains and run trains.

Speaking of Yorba Linda, I am sure it is noted in some circles as the location of Steve Eastman and a few Train activities, but it is likely most noted as the location of the Nixon Library. The Library used to host a nice train layout featuring S gauge trains at the Christmas holidays. It has been about 12 years since I have been there so I am not sure if the exhibit is still hosted.

I helped build and operate a number of those layouts, but not for the past 6-7 years.

Hey Mark, I'm in Lincoln too.  60k sounds like about the whole state.
