There is a tunnel that is part of the C&O Canal. Pawpaw Tunnel.

The canal is more a system of lakes, ponds, to the side of the Potomac River. Note this bridge is the canal crossing Antietam Creek, where it enters the Potomac.
The creek ran red with blood for three days. About 12 miles from Antietam Civil War Battle Field.
