I know there have been numerous threads of what might be in the MTH 2015 Volume 2 catalog, but I am surprised that we are so close and not peep on what is in there. Usually we start hearing things a week before. Mike and the crew have done a great job keeping it under wraps. Hope there is more Long Island Railroad equipment!

In the heady days of the late 90s and early 00s, we were certainly spoiled by all the new tooling for items never previously produced in O gauge.  Now MTH (and to a lesser extent, Big L) is reaping the benefits of their initial investment in tooling.  Don't forget MTH turning their attention to the European market.  At least we got a 44 tonner, which a LOT of us have been asking for for quite a while now.  I look around my train room and I marvel at the trains I have accumulated over the years.  I have more than I ever dreamed of as a kid.  I for one, am content.

I agree. Quite frankly, I'd like to see Santa Fe and Southern Pacific in the "Shouldn't have Painted So Fast" paint. I'd get one of each and run them together. Hopefully they'll get the positioning of the letters right this time around. As much as the BNSF Merger and the UP acquisitions of SP and CNW turned me into the self-appointed Information Minister of the Isle of Denial, the SPSF merger didn't bother me for some reason. Maybe its because they were the two roads I grew up near.

Since the "no new tooling" era, maybe nobody really cares anymore.

The boss has said no "new" rehashes of old stuff, "Be happy with what you have."

That's not how I interpret that statement. It strikes me that what he is saying is don't expect a lot of recycled material - i.e. maybe there will be some all-new stuff. We'll find out tomorrow. "Be content with what you have" could mean don't expect yet another J3, K4, etc.

Conspiracy theory: Maybe the reason there have been no leaks is because there is all new tooling!

In all seriousness, it is still a fun diversion to look through a new catalog and see want stuff you like, what stuff you want, and what stuff you will absolutely positively need or won't be happy.

I for one would be fine with a fantasy scheme in the form of Montour or Steelers stuff. I also would be happy with reissues of Railking F40PHs and F59PHIs.

I've already stated this in another thread, but it would be nice if we could have Viewliners, ACS-64s, SD40-2Fs, a Lionel Trackmobile competitor in the form of a Brookville DES-70B or alternate, operating cars and accessories, and the MTH submarine car they never produced:

Man, that set would've been cool!

Sorry for the terrible sarcasm; as cool as a Big Boy is, I'm really tired of seeing/hearing about them.

I feel the same way.  And, I'm a UP steam fan.

Now, a Bull Moose, 4-10-2 or a 2-10-2 would get my money.  I'm sure my money is safe in my wallet!

You will see Big Boys and 611's coming out of every other page for the next few years so you better get used to it.  I may be interested in the 1218 we will see what the street price will be. I may go for it if it comes with some hoppers and a cabeese. unless there is something I have to have like some new goodies or a 44 ton B&O I think I will get off cheap this time.

See you all at York. I do not think it will be the same without Sean.

I struggled to get my premier NS sd40-2 as seen in this video
