I've been successfully using the DCS system on my layout since it's inception.  I have 3 TIUs (Rev L) and a TMCC base all working in harmony.  I'm going to be adding the MTH app and necessary WIUs.  I've been reading Barry's excellent DCS Companion 3rd edition which advises that a Legacy base and associated Lionel wifi hardware are necessary for the most seamless app user interface.  My question is what's the advantage of have both TMCC and Legacy bases on my DCS system ?  I don't have a CAB1 remote.  It seems like I should eliminate the TMCC base since the Legacy base can control both TMCC and Legacy engines ?  I understand the DCS can only control TMCC engines or Legacy engines in the TMCC mode. I could add a CAB 2 to control Legacy engines in the Legacy mode and also to control Legacy engines in the TMCC mode and TMCC engines if desired.

Thanks Barry for clearing that up.   Since I don't have Cab-1, it's looks like I'll be retiring my TMCC base and purchasing a Legacy Command Set and Lionel Wifi module plus the DB9 cable with power supply.  According to the "Companion", which is GREAT by the way, this should permit operation of TMCC and Legacy engines in the TMCC mode to be operated via the full up DCS app when available.
