I have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and Parallels running Windows XP. I have used this setup with the 10.5 Leopard and DCS Loader 2.2 successfully.

Now with 10.6 it can see the TIU using the check serial port utility but when I try and load DCS 4.2 it says it can't find the TIU. This occurs using DCS Loader 2.2 or 2.3. I am stumped.

Anyone know of version incompatibilities that might cause this?

Hi Pete,

My laptop has a VERY similar configuration.  MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard running Win XP in a virtual machine with Parallels 6.  The loader software works fine on my system with both USB to Rev. L TIU's and USB->Serial adapter for all other TIU's.  It will work fine once we get you set up properly.

What process are you attempting when the loader software fails to find the TIU?

If you have a bad telephone cable connection while trying to load firmware on the remote the loader software will act like it can't find the TIU even though the TIU connection is fine.  Even if your TIU is already updated to v4.20 I suggest trying to re-load the TIU firmware.  That's the simplest process for the DCS loader software to perform and it will test the TIU connection without any other complications.

Dave, I was wondering if the telephone cable might be the problem. Its one I had laying around but not used to do updates with. It has 4 wires on both ends but they are mirror images of each other 1 to 4, 2 to 3, etc. Is this how they should be wired or should it be 1 to 1, 2 to 2? Not easy prying this info from MTH. BTW I was first trying to update to 4.2.
