I am trying to get a PS2 engine to work on my Christmas tree layout using Remote Commander.  The engines were previously used on my DCS Controlled permanent layout.  I did a factory reset using the TIU on the big layout but neither engine responds to the Remote Commander.  I successfully re-programmed both onto the TIU and again did a factory reset but still did not respond to the Remote Commander.  Moved the Remote Commander to the test bench and tried the same procedure but didn't work.  Both engines stay silent and dark on the Remote Commander.  Both engines also work fine in conventional mode.  The original Ready to Run engine works fine with the RC.  Can anyone help me get the engines going under RC

Tom,

After you did a Factory Reset, did you re-add the engines back into the remote? If you did, you undid the effect of the Factory Reset.

After you Factory Reset an engine for use with the DCS Remote Commander, do not re-add it to the remote.

Further, if the P2 engine has a weak battery, the Factory Reset won't take. Make sure that the engine has a sufficiently charged battery before doing a Factory Reset.

Thank you for the reply.  I did a factory reset without re-adding it to DCS, tried it on the RC, it did not work.  Re-added it to DCS, operation okay.  Did another factory reset went to RC still no joy.  I will remove the battery from both engines measure voltage then charge them and try again.  I will let you know what happens

Thanks

Tom,

I will remove the battery from both engines measure voltage then charge them and try again.

That won't effectively test the battery. Test the battery as follows:

  • Put the engine on a track and give it power.
  • Start it making sounds either under DCS or conventionally.
  • Immediately turn off track power. If sounds do not persist for 6-7 seconds after track power is turned off, charge the battery until sounds do persist for 6-7 seconds, or replace the battery and retest.
