DCS Remote Losing Addresses

What you describe in last sentence is not a problem.  Does this always happen with the same loco?

By the way, "Rev L" refers to the TIU.  The remote hasn't really changed since first released.

Many thanks, your thorough and easy to understand explanation is VERY much appreciated. Being relatively new to DCS I didn't know you could backup a remote. Looks like I'll have to go back and do some more reading in that book you wrote.

The first time it happened I had been overusing the display backlight and refused to believe the low battery warnings. When the batteries went full dead I was in the middle of running an engine that went on its merry way. I had to shut off track power and go buy more batteries. When I got things back up I had lost that engine address. I've had two additional loss events since with different engines but nothing out of the ordinary happened just prior to those.

It's possible that DCS 4.30 corrected that problem, however, it's hard to prove a negative.

Regardless, I haven't lost a DCS ID# since I began using the DCS 4.30 betas some time ago.

No, I don't think so. The symptoms are different.

I still think that you may not have the wireless drawbar plugged all the way in. We should talk on the phone this weekend.

   Your explanation for this problem is the best I have ever seen in print.  Having a back up hand held remote is definitely they way to go, and I have now had mine up graded to rechargeables, another nice option, especially for the back up.

   Having the hand held remote control upgraded to a rechargeable is seriously cool and eliminates the need for battery changes for darn near ever.  Bill up in Maine has upgraded 2 of mine for me.
