I have watched every video and read through all manuals I have several times now. I have also been searching through all these forums for a simple explanation to my problems. I have not had any luck, so I am wondering if someone could direct me to or answer my questions. I am running 1 main line about 12x30 just to get all the bugs worked out with the two control systems.

1st problem. I have connected Power from Z4000 to "fixed in 1" on TIU. Fixed out 1 to main line #1. I have special cable running from TMCC command base to TIU input as well as the ground wire to the black terminal on TIU fixed 1 out. I power up.....engine receives power and behaves correctly.....i start up engine it starts,i throttle up it moves, i turn on lights and the flash.... all lights flash even the number board. This along with the engine does not "shut down" when commanded. If i take the TIU out of the equation, and use the CAB 1 remote the engine operated as normal with no flashing lights or issues.

2nd where can i get a detailed wiring diagram to add in a second main loop inside the existing that is about 10 x 20 along, with a yard on the inside that has 4 legs. I am considering a RCS double cross with a standard 072 switch on the inside leading to the RCS yard set. I want to have command over everything but i have not found a "dumbed down" explanation of just the basic power wiring for this setup. I don't understand all the types of blocks, how and why they are wired, where to put toggles that don't interfere with command ect. I have seen a lot of reference to a book written by gentleman named Barry. I just don't want to spend any more time and money on dead ends.

I need some direction. Thanks!

The simplest way to wire up your inner loop is to make it a separate power district by insulating the center rail at your crossover. Then wire it to TIU fixed #2; using the B side of your Z-4000 to power fixed #2.

For you yard sidings you should toggle each one on and off using simple SPST toggle switches, or something like an Atlas #215 4 pole switch.
You have all the right tools at your disposal with the Z-4000 and the DCS system. It should work just fine.

If you email me at the address in my profile I can send you several wiring diagrams in .pdf format that will show you exactly what to do.

Thanks for the tips Rod. I Emailed both you and G3750. I have never tried to insulate any track before and I just can't see how the engine will make it across that big double cross with no power to the center rail. I would really like to see those PDF's diagrams (if you don't mind sending them) because i imagine there is something i am still missing.

Zach;
I just re-read your first post and I see your main loop will have about 80 feet of track.
Depending on what track you are using and how many joints there are, you should figure on 6 to 8 power feeds. You can use up to about 15 feet of track per feed and up to about 10-12 track joints between feeds. These guidelines should give you good DCS signal strength.

The book you refer to is by Barry Broskowitz, called the DCS Companion. It is over 200 pages with way more detail than most of us will ever need. It is well worth the price and is highly recommended.
