I am building a layout with 2 main lines, a couple of sidings and yards along with switching, lighting and accessories. Dedicating a circuit to the project. What size amp breaker should I use?
Seriously, we need to know more about what the loads will be. Also, if there are a lot of lighting and accessories, you may want more than one fuse/circuit breaker for them all. This allows you to isolate issues to a smaller group of items if you run into problems.
Thanks. I have the availability to add a couple of circuits. Would you just suggest I do separate circuits for, trains, lights and accessories? Maybe 20amps ea.
The penny just dropped. You're talking about 110V circuits to power the layout! I thought you were talking about low voltage circuits.
Truthfully, unless it's a pretty large layout, a couple of 15A circuits will be plenty. I'm building a 12 x 23 layout, and I will have two 15A circuits, and I don't anticipate them being at all overloaded.
