I made a 2 hr road trip to Ikea. The Lionel Nascar offices and fulfillment center were close so I decided to scope it out. Also my first time seeing the Charlotte Motor Speedway which was right across the street from Lionel. The place is fairly big. My opinion only is that once Lionel sells its MI offices they will move in this place completely...as the diecast car team is already there. They both source from Early Light in China...so makes sense to me to have everyone together...in a nice area that people would like to live.

I knew Lionel and Nascar were getting close - but I didn't realize that close!
WOW didn't even know Lionel was in Concord.
Guess the next time I take my Truck to get serviced I make a trip down the road to visit.
Lionels distribution center is already there as is the Lionel railroader club.
just received a package that did not have lionels address blocked off very good.
Lionel also took over most of the die-cast car business.

Close indeed. They can certainly see the races from one of the upper windows I would assume.
I agree. It is a beaitiful warehouse. I was there last October for the NASCAR events and enjoyed the area and also got to see this facility. I think this is great for our LIONEL.
Here is a photo of the Lionel sign in front of the warehouse. It is easily seen from Morehead Street, which runs from the track to Harrisburg (Hwy 49). I rode by the other day when I attended a meeting at Roush - Fenway Racing. Also got a chance to see the movie version of the Memphis Belle, on display at the Concord airport that weekend.

When at the LCCA convention in Norfolk, spent some time talking several of the Lionel guys. While we were talking, the distribution center came into topic and me being from North Carolina and we talked for about 30 minutes. Lionel, just like many companies are spread out. Corporate offices at one location, distribution at another, r and d somewhere else, manufacturing there (China) and here (hopefully more work done in America via cost effective contractor plants). Sometime, in the future, it will make good business sense to locate as much as possible of the business to one location.
Stay tuned.
