This is a kind of PSA. If you’re shipping any freight cars with die cast trucks, take the time to rubber band or saran wrap the trucks, to prevent the truck/coupler from swinging back and forth violently enough to damage the freight car. Plastic stirrups are particularly vulnerable. This includes cars shipped in their factory item boxes. I’ve had it occur twice with Lionel 9464 boxcars, and recently received these unboxed, adequately cushioned cars. Before someone states the obvious, the likelihood is minimal to a car encased in a styrofoam cradle, such as those used by Atlas and MTH. Lionel cars in the newer clamshell packing unlikely, too.
