Disassembly of a MPC era Lionel 3100 Great Northern | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I truly apologize for having to ask such a basic question but I am stumped. I have a MPC era Lionel 3100 Great Northern which is in dire need of E-Unit service but I can't figure how to get the shell off the chassis. I have removed all of the obvious screws and expected to be able to lift the shell off but it ain't gonna happen. Does this engine require removal of the side rods etc.? Is there something I am missing? any advice would be appreciated.

The smoke deflectors need to be carefully bent out of the way.

Thanks Chuck, the shell slipped right off after maneuvering the elephant ears out of the way. I need to be more observant. rolleyes
