Do we all suffer from the "Moth effect"?

No.  I have no blinking lights and lights are not a big thing for me or my layout.  The trains come with them and I pretty much accept them as they are. 

Miller Engineering signs really add a nice to our layout and can easily be considered eye candy.

 

Boy they sure do and the Kids really light up when they see them!

 

 

Nope...don't have any.  Miller at York said they couldn't get permission to do a Coors

sign, and I have seen no others of regional interest.  Of course, if they produce one,

I will be interested.  I would be happy to find a source for really good period paper

advertising signs for buildings.

I never get tired of seeing people's movie theaters with the lighted marquees up front.  It just brings the layout alive.  The lighted buildings are a big reason Christmas villages and layouts are so popular.  They just entrance everyone.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a museum quality HO layout in the home of someone local.   The thing I thought was missing was lights and animations.   As great as the detail was everything was static.  I couldn't help thinking "if only this was in O".

Definitely affected by the moth effect am I.

Yep I'm a moth, from illuminated lock ons to Miller signs. Converting all train services over to Passenger trains and when the lights start to flicker inside the coaches it doesn't bother me a bit.

I like the Lionel neon clock as well.

Not so much anymore. I used to have a lot of lighted stuff back in my early days in HO. Now I'm content to have a headlight on my locomotives.

 

But then those yard spotlight towers look kinda cool.....

 

 

Absolutely! Unfortunately I have very few at the moment and am tired of wiring at the moment. I have to be in the mood for wiring. Someday

I have the Natty Bo sign done up by Miller Engineering, now if they only would make an Old Milwaukee sign?

I have 4 miller engineering signs installed, with 4 more ready once I clean up the train room so I can get back to work! I think they add yet another layer and depth to the trains!

Not a lot of lighted signs on my postwar-style layout. Most of the light comes from the inside of structures (gateman, switch tower, freight station) and accessories like the rotary beacon and water tower.

 

But what I do enjoy (sort of a modified "moth effect") is turning off the lights in the train room when all is lit up and trains are running. Still a thrill.  Magic.

No Miller signs yet, but I am a sucker for lighted things.  I love the MTH buildings that have the neon signs, and I'm planning my little layout town around the MTH movie theater so that I can have the lighted sign on it.  I plan on adding more marker, inspection, and ditch lights to my locomotives, cabooses, and passenger cars.  Are there any prototypical box, reefer, or stock cars with interior lights?...

I guess my railroad is a "Dry" RR, I don't have any beer signs on my layout

 

About the only lights I do have right now are the LEDs on a couple of switch machines, along with lights on my engines.  No lights in cabooses or passenger cars either (will have one soon as soon as I put it back together).  I had my buildings lighted at one time, but when I rearranged the layout I never hooked them back up.

What is the longevity of these Miller signs. How reliable and durable are they?
