So in the pictures above you see a Switcher a PFE and a SP Caboose. This is on the San Diego Model Railroad associations' San Diego, Arizona and Eastern Layout located at the La Mesa Station which still stands today as a museum as a part of the Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum.

The same set up is next to the real one as the model. So you got anything that is on static display in real life that you model on your layout?

Original Post

I do not have a specific prototype display, although I do have an engine as a "static display" near a station, somewhat similar to the Gaithersburg, MD B&O station which displays a B&O RDC, C&O Bay Window caboose, and 1918 BC&G 2-8-0.

It can be seen below, right near the light post. This is a very, very old photo and much has changed since I took this. This is the only photo I can easily find.

I have several models of REAL engines currently on display. Below are two I've photographed:

MTH Railking Scale SW1, Chessie/C&O 8401. It is resting on the front of the Pere Marquette #11 an SW1 on display (and operable) at the B&O Museum in Baltimore. #11 started life as PM #11 and became Chessie/C&O 8401 later in life. It was restored to the PM #11 appearance by the museum. DSCN0017

I also have an Williams Toronto Trolley and several TTC PCC cars within a 30 minute drive, among a few others that I haven't done comparison photos.
