Year round.
Since I have a home layout, there is always SOMETHING out to operate year round. I periodically change out the steam power, to different railroads as the spirit moves me.
All year round for me, wouldn't have it any other way.

Only 365 days a year.
All year which is probably applicable for most of us on the OGR Forum.
Although I don't have a layout at the moment, I will throw down some track on the carpet and run trains from the spare bedroom, through the hallway and into the walk-in attic and then make their way back into the bedroom. There's always a train rolling at my house.
I think you are going to find a bias asking the question on this site since the majority of people who are reading the forum in the middle of summer ARE the ones who run year-round. Come October, the guys who only run around the holidays start reading the forum again. And they will never see your question.
Year round for me.

Year round.
Having a layout, workbench, 12X24 "train building" and WAY too much stuff - no, I don't "put them away".
And around here, I would definitely not put them away for the "summer" - as summer
here is hot, muggy and sub-tropical. I actually work on them less in the winter,
as my shaded and insulated RR building is quicker to A/C than it is to heat.
I "put them away for the winter", if anything.
We have a simple set up lay-out 9x9 feet. I used some damaged hollow doors I picked up from Menard's for $5 a piece, threw some in door out door carpet and set up 3 lines.
2 Fastrack and the 3rd is the old stuff we had from my Dad's layout. Although my 10 year old son and I have been wanting to tear it down and put up something nice we are so busy we don't have the time and want to run the trains whenever we can.
What really through a wrench in the works is when we took delivery of those Lionel Lion-Chief Steamers. Those are so much fun any new layout plans are on hold till the Winter.
I just found out the Lion-Chief Diesels came out.
At Thanksgiving we set up a G-Gauge loop around the Christmas Tree and that stays up till about Febuary then it goes back downstairs.
BUT
this Summer as part of our "doing something about the back yard" project, we installed a waterfall or I should say my wife went ahead and had it done. There is room to have the G-Scale incorporated into the garden but I have to have the local Garden RR fellas come by to see how we can do this.
For those that want to mentally relax after a high stress day waterfalls, trains, airplanes and yea an adult beverage do wonders!!
Happy Hobbying!!
Year round, with a permanent basement layout which has a winter/Christmas theme (Dept. 56, one train is the Polar Express, etc.). So it gets more use during the winter months, but is available all year-round.
Year round.

Andrew87,
Yes, I must admit that I'm a 24/7/365 type. I do go extremes compared to most. When I'm finished with each set. I dust each car and clean the wheels as I put the car away. By doing so my track is ready to be cleaned before my next session. I've been doing so for years.
Every day I am here at the house . . . .
My trains get more use in the summer, as my work schedule frees up a lot. The rest of the year, if I get down to my layout twice a week, that's a great week.
But they are always out and ready to go.
I have a permanent layout, but it kind of fades in May or June,
Out doing summer stuff
Start getting more involved around October
It's Christmas All Year Long at "Leapin Larry's Looney Lines Railroad". It's Celebration Time When Our Orders Arrive At The Station....Trains are always coming and going, which keeps the adrenalin flowing....Wow, it's plain ole FUN.
Yep all year round!
All year for me. Too hot during the summer to do anything else.
All year round for me too.

The simple answer is yes, but in summer there are more distractions and they may not run every day. But I am less likely to work on projects in the summer.
permanent setup fills the basement, summer run time is only when someone stops by. Always ready.

Definitely all year for me. I am planning to change my scenery to winter around thanksgiving time. I will put the convertible cars away for some plow trucks!
Only when I am at home. Have not figure out a way to run them when i am at work. Would be to hard to watch them for where I work. Otherwise 24/7/365
Year round. Somewhat less running time through the Summer months.
All the time......
Peter
All year round!
with working 21 turn I don't get downstairs everyday, but as often as I can year round.
All year round!!!!
Year round!
why would you ask?.........
I really need to but as I am the 'yard boy', mowing grass takes a heavy priority!
So, I just keep the train room cool and dehumidified and occasionally run consists.
All year round.
year around.run them everyday also.
terry.......
I have a train room with a permanent layout but for me trains are a winter sport. When the outside temps reach 50* it's boating and fishing the Chesapeake Bay for me.
absolutely a year rounder
Layout in basement is up full time although our "engineers" take some vacation time in the summer. We also have been doing fall and winter layouts upstairs.
