Thought this only happened on train layouts!

Found this through TO website. Sorry no english subtitles...the video tells it all!

A truck driver has been killed in a horrific collision in Kazakhstan after his vehicle skid onto the rail track crossing right between the two oncoming trains. The crash in which both trains partially derailed was recorded by a CCTV cam.

The tragedy took place between "Kondratovka" and "Petropavlovsk" stations on the South Urals Railway.

The accident which hit the lens of a surveillance camera clearly shows that while attempting to bring the moving vehicle to a halt, the driver could not stop on time apparently because of the icy road conditions.

Best way to stop an icy skid is to put your two side tires on the dirt/snow shoulder.

Saved my life once.

I too have been to Europe and seen stop signs in English.  I really wouldn't be expecting this in the Urals however.  But I've never been there.  The quality of the video seems animated to me though.  However, a low resolution and low frame per second video could give this appearance.
