I`m a guy with large hands, and as a result MTH drawbars on large steam engines, {Yellowstones , Big Boys etc.} are very difficult for me to attach to the tender. Has anyone out there developed a tool that might help?

Towel on large flat table, engine and tender on side. Attach draw bar and roll on wheels. Lift and move to track. Leave attached if you can. G

I use the method GGG suggested. The more difficult task is detaching it - I've used all kinds of items to gently disconnect.
Still, I'd rather deal with that then the tether but that's just my opinion.

I made what I call a DRAW BAR / TETHER BOARD. Not only are the draw bars difficult to connect, but so are the A-B-A units tethers. It's a piece of 3/16" MDF that measures 3.25" x 42", with 1/4" self adhesive dense foam applied. The 42" length is a must for Premier A-B-A E8's. You place the board along side the tracks, lay your engine and tender on the board and make your connection, then simply roll the combination right onto the rails. With a little practice you can get all the units wheels to land perfect onto the rails all at once.

Thank you for your great idea. I have been doing a version of this, but with a soft foam pad. You idea with the firmer supporting pad is I`m sure better. I just wish MTH would come out with a tool to do the job.
