My Porky Pig sign from Miller Engineering arrived a couple days ago.  So I decided to make a drive-in using the sign.  My focus is on having a display that will be versatile enough to be able to change the sign easily.   Here are some pictures of my progress.

Using a 10-1/2" X 7-1/2" piece of 1/4" plywood I cut a 4" hole with a hole saw.

I had to come up with something that I could just slide the sign into and it would stay in place.  006

Next  I needed something to hold the battery pack.   I also made some side supports so it would stand up.

008

Just glued a little facing on the battery holder.

Next is a place to hold the circuit board / switch.

Glued a facing on the circuit board holder.

As you can see, everything is easily removal to change out the signs and easy access to the on/off switch.

Now to figure out how to keep the sign centered and get the screen painted.  This should be a lot of fun to have on a layout.

All wood is just scrap material from my wood bin.                                                                       Any suggestions on how to improve on this project are welcome.

I have a van in the back row where I put a motor under the layout with a small rod coming up to the underside of the van.  A cam on the motor lets the rod go thump thump thump that causes the van to rock.  I am going to put a timer on it so its not constant like 2 min on then 2-3 minutes off.

Always get a comment and a chuckle on it when someone walks by.  Then they say " If its a rock'in , don't come a knock'in .

Your sign looks great, I'm positive you are going to get people to do Porky's famous  - bada , bada,  bada , thats all folks  !!!     JP
