First of all I have to put weathering the crane on my list of things to do. Not decrepid but used a bit.
The Roanoke station is perhaps the structure I most enjoyed building on the layout. It was done from a photo from the N&W Historical Society and was taken around 1910 or so I would guess. It is Max Meadows, Va. which is on the line to Bristol. The station no longer exists, being torn down some years ago. O Winston Link did a night shot of the building in the late 50's. The second story of the tower was gone at that time. I would like to know why and when it was changed.
The model is completely scratchbuilt of Evergreen styrene including the windows and doors. There are no casting used, even the corbels and brackets are built up. The battens are all applied one by one. Ther are over 1800 pieces in the structure. The order board is a Grandt casting.
The N&W and the VGN had different stations in Roanoke of course but this is Will's layout and rule one and two apply.
