I am not crazy about the PRR"dip Scheme" and I am not sure if others out there are too! Lionel should have chosed to reissue the K-line Single Stripe scheme instead abeit a different road number!
and What's with that "dome car" on the scale PRR Budd car pax set?

The Pennsy E8's I see on the Lionel catalog link have a single stripe. When you mention the "dip" scheme, this is the one which comes to mind for me:
Oh, well...doesn't matter. When I saw the price for the A-A pair, I just about fainted.

I'll remain open-minded about Lionel's E9's. The catalog illustrations can't be relied on as a detailed and technically accurate representation of what will actually be built.
I give Lionel points for such a variety of road names offered.
And, yes, they're expensive, but the Legacy features are worth quite a bit. They will probably be very good runners on top of the outstanding Legacy engine and whistle sounds.
The few misguided Forumites who are not fond of Santa Fe will be pleased by the omission of the legendary rednose . . . for now. We can wait.

When you think about super steam sound, swinging bell, whistle and cylinder smoke, yes Legacy features are cool in a steamer But in a diesel?? Not sure..
You'll need to clue me in about what makes these $930.00 E-8's worth a second look when the other guy has them with the "B" unit included for $200.00 less.

"Dip" is a fan term often used to refer to a single color paint scheme as in "dip it in the bucket and take it back out."
Bob
I agree. That is exactly what I was thinking. $200.00 less from MTH and you get both A-Units powered and a B-Unit also.
I was hoping for a New York Central 4-8-4 from either company in Rail King and or Lionmaster.
At 1000 bucks for an A-A pair, I am out....
besides there are too many steamers out there in TMCC I missed for half the price.
Thanks, CNJ 3676.

You have a good point about the steam engines. I'd have to agree that MTH gives you two powered units plus a dummy booster for less, and there is a long history of MTH being lower on price for roughly equivalent engines. Personally, having both MTH late PS2 and Lionel Legacy diesels, I would give the sounds award to Lionel and am quite pleased with they way they run. So, personally, I'd give an edge to Lionel Legacy, but that's a personal opinion, and apparently there are a number of others who do not see the same value in it that I do.
