This might be an interesting project for someone. The early brass Williams Hudson was one of their first attempts at a scale steamer. Not as much detail as we're accustomed to but a nice piece in its day. Can be tweaked to run well too.

There is one on the auction site here

Williams has had many lives and iterations since the 1970's:

- Tinplate repro and assembly (some by a young Mike Wolf)
- Bodies for Lionel chassis kits
- Scale brass steam and diesel of iffy quality (the Hudson above is a scale model - but
not the same as later Samghongsa-built models)
- Scale brass steamers of high quality (Samhongsa)

- Masterpiece Series: scale high-end brass steam - very nice; included a N&W 2-6-6-4
- Scale plastic dlesels
- Near-scale size plastic diesels/electrics
- Sub-scale die-cast steamers (current production)/GG1
- Scale die-cast J1 4-6-4
- The Bachmann Years...

So when characterizing Williams products ("appear to be undersized") one must ask:
"which Williams?"

This Hudson is an interesting piece of 3-rail history, and is nice to have if the price
is moderate (like under $300). They can run decently, and the looks are OK.
