I have several MTH PS2 engines and some Lionel TMCC engines. I have Barry's "Companion" book as well.

I decided to number my engines using the last 2 digits of the engine number. For all my PS2 engines, no problem, ie: my 2-8-2 #5136 shows up as #36 on my hand held remote.

However, I can not get my TMCC engines to show up on the remote using the last 2 digits,ie: my E7, numbered 988 shows up as #3 on my remote. I would like to change it so that it shows up as #88 on my remote.

Reading Barry's book, page 39, there is a note that "The DCS ID# of a TMCC engine cannot be changed".

So does this mean that any TMCC engine, whatever the number "automatically" assigned by the remote, it cannot be changed? I have to live with engine 988 as ID 3 on the remote?

Thanks

RAY

Ray,

Yes, that's correct.

So does this mean that any TMCC engine, whatever the number "automatically" assigned by the remote, it cannot be changed?

Yes, that's also correct.

I have to live with engine 988 as ID 3 on the remote?

No, not as long as you take some steps in advance.

It's possible to get a TMCC or Legacy engine into whatever spot in the DCS Remote that you desire, a follows:

  • First, put "dummy" engine entries into the DCS Remote to use up the space between the first open DCS ID#, which is where DCS wants to put the TMCC or Legacy engine, and the DCS ID# where you want to put the engine. Just enter dummy engine names, e.g., "Dummy 1", "Dummy 2", etc. Don't worry about what you enter as the engine's TMCC ID#
  • Then, add the engine so that it gets where you want it to go, i.e., the next available DC ID#
  • After you've added your "real" TMCC or Legacy engine, you can just delete the dummy engines.
