Well,I've entered the world of Marx trains in the last few weeks! What a satisfying and fun experience working with these little slices of history. Hope you enjoy!
Marx 999: Got this set from a fellow forum member. Plus I found the B&O Gondola on line. A little tlc and clean up,she's purring like a kitten!
Marx 666: this one was already repainted with the tender! Just need to replace the smoker wick (on order) to get her smoking like the devil again. The Santa Fe passengers were cleaned and wheels oiled up. Barely would move. I also fixed the bulb wiring, and made clear plastic window inserts. Others were missing or so brittle.
Marx 333: she hadn't been ran in probably decades. Growled and sparked on initial run. Again, came apart with ease. Cleaned, greased, and oiled her up. Rewired the headlight. Cleaned up the shell with back to black automotive trim product. Still a little wet,but dries to a non slimy finish. Have her pulling k-line erie tender and freight cars. Pulls them with ease!
Marx are a very dependable and affordable part of the hobby I'm glad I gave a chance! Hope you guys and gals enjoy! Sorry if the pics are out of order
