I have no experience with Atlas engines.  I understand that older models utilized EOB while the newer ones are equipped with Cruise Commander.  Those of you that have seen both in action, which do you feel provides the smoothest response to input via the Legacy remote?  I realize neither will offer the type of braking and acceleration characteristics that Legacy does.  I am considering purchasing an older Atlas engine with EOB, but would be content to wait for it when it is offered with the Cruise Commander if CC is superior to EOB.  What advantages, if any does Cruise Commander offer over EOB?

thanks for the feedback

Kevin,

To me, neither EOB nor CC has any operational advantage over the other for diesels. CC is still being produced, so I assume you can get parts. EOB has a feature that you either like or hate; it has a built in momentum function where the engine starts slow and smooth. While this can be adjusted a little, the fastest it will accelerate is too slow for some. Also, while I do not hear it with sounds on, EOB does hum loud enough to bother some.

I’m always looking for new in the box EOB units for my older TMCC steam engines because EOB has an advantage over CC for that application, but for diesels I think either will work well.

Glad to hear that John!  I'm expecting my first TMCC/ERR diesel to arrive from Weaver tomorrow and I'm a complete novice when it comes to ERR operation, features, etc.

I already have several U.S. Army RS and GP diesels from Weaver, but all are conventional. Figured I had better get my feet wet with a TMCC/ERR version since I now have Legacy hooked-up and operating on my layout.
