Hey everyone,

I now have 2 live webcams on my layout. The plan is to eventually have 4 camera online, one for each room of the layout. I've been trying the cameras out for a few weeks and people seem to really enjoy them, so I think it's time to share them here on the forum.

The live cameras are in no way a guarantee of a "show" of any kind, but rather they simply let people drop in to see what's going on. At times I might be running trains, other times I'll be working on the layout, while at other times there's nothing going on at all. It all depends on my schedule. I've been leaving the cameras turned on pretty much 24/7 but I generally mute the sound while I'm away from the layout. I will also turn the cameras off from the time to time for privacy reasons.

At present, the live cameras do not work reliably on mobile devices, so it's best to watch them from a real computer. I am currently working on an "Eric's Trains" iphone/android app that will pull all of the live cams into an easy to use interface that WILL work on mobile devices, but that's another month or so away from being complete. The new app will also make my youtube video library readily available and searchable. I'll also be adding a "chat" feature to the app so that viewers can ask questions and so forth while watching the live cameras. Fun times.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new live cameras.

instead of web cam#1 or webcam#2, how about you use your room names.

I have been following for a few years and I know you use names like Colorado room, etc.

just a thought.  rooms

That's a good idea. The only reason I have them numbered is because I sometimes move them around a bit so the main room camera, for example, might not always be in the main room. But I'll think about it.

I've never heard that rule, but if it's true I broke it a long long time ago. I try to turn off the smoke unit before adding fluid but sometimes I forget.

Thanks!

Oh, somewhere I heard that adding smoke fluid while its hot will crystallize the earl(oil) and it wont smoke or something like that, I think it might have been on one of those Lionel videos but I dont remember. I always add smoke when its hot because thats when I notice is needs juice

Eric,

Thanks. Always creative.  I was enjoying watching you just now as you were putting some rolling stock on the layout and commenting on the differences between the manufacturers regarding rolling stock quality, price, and availability.  I agree with many of the points especially the availabilty of "sets" or multiple cars with different road numbers.  Often, painfully, to my wallet I've ordered all road numbers available that Atlas makes in a rolling stock piece that I want.  I know that if I don't  I'll have a heck of a time finding them later.

Keep it up!

Yet another innovation from Eric. Your ideas and tutorials are inspiring people all over the world!!!

Would love to see the Nuclear powered train become a mainstream item.Pure genius.

I will forever be blown away by the Nuclear powered train!!

I thought I was a madman, but that was just beyond mind blowing!!!

The cams are sure to be a hit. Hope to meet you one day, maybe at the Piedmount Pligrmage. What time of year is it? I want to schedule some vacation time around it,so I can come and see your legendary layout, and meet the legend himself.

Thanks Eric
