Didn't I say it was a Lionel 18063 C&O " Yellow-Belly" Hudson, with the Pullmor motor ? I've installed an ERR AC DC board, made for Postwar Pullmor motors. After programming the board, it will only move forwrd / reverse, just a few inches. Acts like it's not getting enough Voltage.Thank You

Not on this thread did you mention what you’re working on till now….…..this engine is already TMCC out the box, ….did you try testing it before you installed new electronics?…..what’s the condition of the mechanicals of the locomotive?…..these engines are notorious for the grease hardening up like concrete,……what maintenance have you performed before installing ERR’s AC Commander?..

Pat

I'd try running it without any electronics, just wire the brushes in series with the motor field.  Since one end of the field is already grounded, you just tie the free brush to the center rail and the other brush to the field lead.  If you want it to go the other direction, swap the brush connections.

If it won't run well that way, you're wasting your time with electronics.

I was just thinking, if the motor doesn't run, check the BRUSHES !! There's really Nothing to a Pullmor motor. Only thing that can wear-out are the BRUSHES ! No Brushes, No Run ! That'll be the First thing, that I'll check tomorrow ! I've worked on Pullmors when I used to have my Postwar layout. Mind is slipping, should have been the FIRST thing to check !

Also, check that the driving rod bolts are snug, the rods are correctly installed, and not bent to the point of snagging each other or one of the hex bolts.

I can't remember whether the Yellowbelly has mechanical puffing smoke.  If it does, make sure that the smoke lever isn't jamming.  These are all reasons why a loco might "barely move."  Pics and videos are always helpful in diagnosing these issues.
