Need some help with a used Lionel 8056 CNW FM Trainmaster that I purchased recently. It has dual pullmor motor engine with an AC/DC Commander V5.2 hooked to a Sound Commander 2 V3.11.
It has a R2LC C08 board in it.
The engine can be programmed.
When used in Command Mode it runs both motors in reverse but will not run forward, but the the front and back lights switch with direction.
In Command Mode there are diesel motor sounds but no horn or bell.
In Command Mode it makes diesel engine sounds in reverse. When switched to forward the sounds get much louder but the motors don’t turn.
In conventional mode it will not run in either direction but the horn works.
I checked all wiring against the online instruction manual and found that the Field and Brush 1 wires had been crossed. I corrected that and it made no difference.

I suspect that there is either something wrong with the AC DC commander or the R2LC board.

Any ideas how to get this running properly? Cheaply?

My TMCC skills were a bit rusty. Previously I was able to program the engine number but apparently got the reprogramming steps wrong. Your attachment set me straight and was able to reprogram to 6 on the original board. All sounds are working , up-down volume and engine revs, Horn, bell sounds and coupler sounds even though it doesn't have electro-couplers. Now no forward or reverse motion and now the front light flashes constantly.

This AC/DC Commander TMCC board and sound board are several generations old so I don't think you will learn too much from my mess. I have installed their cruise commander board and Railsounds boards a few years ago and they are awesome. Originally Posted by OKHIKER:

Let us know how you make out.  I am about to purchase an ACCmdr and a EP5/GG-1 Railsounds Commander and am curious as to the source of your problem.  Thanks.

I just noticed in one of the pics the wires are wrong. The green wire goes to the field and should be in the center hole on the AC Commander the blue and yellow on the two out sides and connects to the brushes. Changes those wires and reprogram using Aux 1+8. Look at the wiring diagram on ERR web page. If the blue wire is going to field wire on the motor, then its OK, I can't tell on the motor.
