Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd pass some info along from an experiance that I had with customizing a Williams Big Boy steam loco. The build was for a group member of The Raritan Valley Hi-Railers and he wanted all the bells & whistles in it. The build consisted of a ERR's CCM and an ERR Railsounds sound kit for Big Steam sound.

Also added to the mix was JRG's Chuff Generator and Super Chuffer. Had to add a Lionel smoke unit to this too.

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. If you have to program GRJ's Chuff Generator to get your proper chuff sound out of your sound system for this set-up (articulate), do not program a quarter turn of the loco wheel movement into the CG, as I found out that it sounds too much like an oozie. Secondly, do not program a half turn of the same method, it'll still sound like a rapid fire machine gun. I actually programmed a full wheel turn to get the proper chuff ratio, because the Railsounds already has the proper chuff sounds built into the sound bytes to satisfy that. GRJ's instructions for programming are clear for programming smaller locomotives wheel turns on programming (smaller than articulates) but this was a larger loco, which I didn't know that the Railsounds sound kit had already been programmed for proper chuff sequence. It drove me nuts for awhile but it got figured out through trial & error. Hope this helps anyone with a similiar challange! Thanks go to GRJ & Alex for some input!!!
