I remember reading a recommendation a while ago about using the motors from a Chuggington engine into a non powered engine. Has anyone tried this exchange and were any modifications need in the non powered engine?

Other than changing the truck sides, it is simple and works well, the E unit is the same as other Williams , it is a 4 wheel truck.
One of the problems with the Chuggington was the wire going from the e unit to the motor, it would break at the solder joint at the motor, I change that wire with a 2 inch add on that I solder and sleeve with shrink wrap, it seems to hold, one engine is for the grandkids and it runs every time without breaking as the factory units seem to that the club purchased. We wait for the club engines to fail before modifying with the added wire and shrink wrap, a bit frustrating but they seem to do well once fixed.
The blue Chuggington has the tall flywheels and will scrape the roof of the Williams F3. Fits OK in other recent 4 wheel Williams diesels.
The red Chuggington has small flywheels and will fit in any recent 4 wheel Williams chassis.
