I actually had wondered: what if you put powdered iron in it?  It would scatter about and spark and burn as it came down on the rails.  Probably too dangerous 9fire hazard) - but it would be spectacular!

And all I wanted was the operating Lava Light Tank Car.

I'd buy one, too.  I'm surprising, now that I think of this, and one has not been produced: might be that it would take too much power for the average O-guage power supply to provide. 

I think there must be something very cool one could do with a lava light car and aliens, although I'm not sure just what . . .

I second the motion for an Addams Family Train Set!

Hopefully, TrainWorx might consider building RTR layouts to compliment this set?

OK, I understand that it was mostly tongue-in-cheek, but the large number of weird

outraged answers above forces me to say that if Lionel makes one, I'll buy it.

Some of the "concerned" posters above had me waiting for the punch line that never came.

Now, for those of us steam era modelers, how about an animated Steam Locomotive Boiler

Explosion! You could have the entire boiler blow off prototypically and land in a field,

Just Like The Real Thing, boys and girls.

This would require a tough reusable ABS plastic boiler and cab (and tough reusable engineer and fireman), a hidden pressurized smoke/steam reservoir, and a BOOM Chip (Ver 1.0) in the tender.

Your results may vary; wear goggles and earplugs; not available in Sweden. 

You DIDN'T read the Lionel H8 Allegheny 1642 Boiler Explosion set !    But I think what we rilly need around here is the Lionel Exploding Power Station...BOOM!  Sparks, fire, smoke, tons of weird noises, and then all yer lights go out!   Awesome, eh?

No! We need a dang Operating Lava Light Car!!!
