I plan on building holiday layout using fastrack. Being themed to run the Polar express If at all possible I'd like it to be a corkscrew type helix that wrapping around a mountain. It will be wide at the base and narrow significantly as it rises towards the peak of the mountain Depending on base diameter, ideally 3 or 4 spirals high should suffice.  For a novice layout creator / track planner, which rr track software would be the most desirable for my all around planning with the quickest, simplest learning curve? Will be including a combo of Lionel, Atlas, Amer-towne, Bachmann Plasticville and MTH buildings with a few Dept.56 Snow Village  ones added so would like software to also include if possible a library of some those. Thanks in advance for suggestions and advice.

RR Track software is good for designing a helix, but, you will have to design one loop at a time.  Base each loop on a common vertical reference point from the ceiling or table.

This section on helix design might be helpful.  http://www.slsprr.net/technical/helixdesign.htm

The plans for this helix are in that section and may be a helpful guide for designing your track.
