The K-Line Berks. were a dream come true for B&A fans. Bought both versions. Lionel has since reissued this engine in Legacy. While the new Legacy version is. Huge improvement running wise. K-Line did all the work on that detailed boiler with all the plumbing. Only wished that had done the smaller tender. But given the price point of under 700 at the time. I'll gladly give them a pass for using the existing Hudson tender tooling.

 This is #1407 getting serviced.

Your first photo is really nice Don, love those Berkshires!

Our K-Line Hudson is for sale and has a full PS2 conversion with a MTH smoke unit added. A fine combination. Write me offline if interested. Not cheap!

I have several good photos of the many K-Line engines and cars that I use on my late 1940s era layout.  However, the K-Line engine photo I like the most is of my one modern style train; a pair of K-Line Santa Fe SD75s pulling a consist of double stack cars.

Yes, I know these are engines Lionel delivered after K-Line's bankruptcy, but I did order them from K-line so they will always be K-Line to me

Mine was a custom conversion by JDS Ltd. Am not sure what the cost was as I purchased the locomotive from a fella in Baltimore who had it done.  BIG difference!

One wonders if soon will be seen similar lamentation about Weaver, as I, and others,

make about K-Line and the old Williams, etc, although both of those last were merged into other model railroad manufacturers.  In addition to the Porter and the two-truck

Shay being admired here, what I went after vigorously at the end of K-Line was their

21" western road RPO cars, when it looked like they were being dumped by some.  Of

course, RPO's ran in shorter lengths on the prototypes, so those were acquired, too,

some in two-packs with other cars.  The other cars I acquired, to kitbash, were the

interurbans, with one gas electric created and at least another to follow in the future.
