Guys,

 

Did you know that Henry Flagler was a tycoon that built hotels up and down his Florida East Coast line? Do any Flagler Hotels still exist? All of them would have been built before his death in 1934. He built the railway to the Florida Keys over open ocean before a hurricane destroyed it in 1935.

 

It must have been AMAZING!

Certainly, Flagler made Florida a viable winter destination for those located in the upper Northeast. However, crediting Flagler the inspiration to locate Disney World in Florida I think would be a stretch. The need for cheap vast acreage in an area of predictable weather, established infrastructure, brought them to the then nearly dead city of Orlando.
