All magnificent hotels, sheer marvels! I recently was in Cape May I stayed at Congress Hall. ALL of the Flagler hotels outdo it.IMHO!

Not like today's Amtrak or Via Rail. This was a special time in history.

Don't overlook the Casa Marina in Key West.

 

Key West being the the US terminus of the Florida East Coast RR's "Key West Extention" before the cars were loaded at Trumbo Point aboard ship for Cuba! 

 

Today the Casa as locals call it, is a Waldorf Astoria property. 

Construction of Casa Marina commenced in 1918, opened New Years Eve, 1920, 7-years after Flagler's death, yet built to honor his original vision.

I think I can say that without a doubt the New York to Florida connection might never have happened without Flagler's largesse. Or that it might have happened later in an entirely different way. I credit Flagler with inspiring Walt Disney to come down to Florida!

Certainly, Flagler made Florida a viable winter destination for those located in the upper Northeast. However, crediting Flagler the inspiration to locate Disney World in Florida I think would be a stretch. The need for cheap vast acreage in an area of predictable weather, established infrastructure, brought them to the then nearly dead city of Orlando.
