I have some packs of wildflowers from woodland scenics. They recommend spraying the turf with scenic cement and sprinkling the flowers on. I would like to put some on steep grassy banks. Should I try to sprinkle the flowers? I thought maybe putting the flowers on a piece of cardboard and gently blowing them toward theslope would work better. Any thoughts? Also, have yard area painted earth brown. Now need to know what to apply over the area to simulate a busy crowded yard. The yard tracks are Lionel tubular track with rubber ties added for some small degree of realism, (the rest of the layout is Gargraves on cork). I seem to recall reading that kitty litter is about the right size for ballast with tubular track. Whatcha think?

. . . . putting the flowers on a piece of cardboard and gently blowing them toward the slope would work better.
That is how I apply it and other similar stuff to slopes.
I don't use kitty litter, just buy the woodland scenics ballast. In yards I use the mid-range size, not fine.
Thanks Lee. The cardboard and air worked well. I curled the cardboard int a shallow curve to keep the flowers in a smaller area and used a straw to blow the flowers gently. Worked very well. As to ballast, I found both Scenic express and woodland
scenics have good looking ballast, but I can't get a good feel for how much to buy. I will ballast 90 sections or 75' of track. Finally, I would like to talk to Scenic supply about their flexible rock sheet but I can't find a phone number for them. Do they not deal with customers by phone?
taylorra, if by Scenic supply you mean Scenic Express, click on their ad at the top right of the forum sponsors, scroll down to the bottom of their home page and there is a Contact Us section with several phone #s.
