The past few days funnies.

Someone needs to assemble a trade paperback of all the for better or for worse model train strips.
Thanks Steve.
Suggest it to Lynn. It might be a sore subject for her given what happened, but she might do it anyway.
(She had actually written an ending for the strip, planning to retire with her husband. He left her for his secretary the week the last strip ran. That's why she went back to the strip after the whole farewell--she needed an income.)
Well, so much for the "model husband" statement. Is this the guy that was portrayed
as a dentist? Since there are kids in the above cartoons, I assume they had them?
I think they had two. First was difficult, second was cool.
wow, hadn't heard that.
Very funny Steve. Wendy is not laughing.

Several years ago, I recall seeing a video of the cartoonist's (Lynn?) real-life husband enjoying his inch and half scale ride-on trains in the back yard.
I'm sorry to hear about that. I always enjoyed the cartoon and I still have copies of the first of her strips on the subject of model trains - "...My dear chap, electric trains are not a hobby,,,they are a way of life!"
That is so ironic; so very sad, what an idiot he must be to have such swell timing too.
Not something you want to hear about happening to someone that made you smile so often, over oh so many years.
I honestly hope she smashed a loco at least.
I'm torn. I'd love to request it, she might need the income too. But I couldn't bear to upset her, or have her resenting her work. Especially if this is at all recent, it coming from someone already in contact may go easier. Do any here know her? Well enough to know what's "right" here?
That strip is an American icon. One of those that gets you reading the funnies, just because you saw a portion of its panels out of the corner of your eye.
I don't know her personally (she passed through a writers' forum now and then a few years back, and several of the writers did know her) but I'll stick my neck out and ask. This might explain a little better than I just did:

Soon as I figure out which assistant would be the best one to get hold of...
