Today my search for brass (yes, I said 'brass') took me to a local hardware store. Across the street was a hobby shop!
I walked up to the door and saw the dreaded "Going out of Business, everything on sale"
Now, before you think this is a sad story nothing could be further from the truth! Don't get me wrong, I'm bummed I finally found a local hobby shop (less than 10 mins from my house, stocked all types of model supplies), but it is going out of business. I made the most of the situation.
Pictured above, I bought 9 pieces of Gargraves 37" track for $3.50 each! My next question was, "do you have a case?" I bought a case of 51 not pictured above for the same price! Didn't plan on buying the GG O-100 switches, but they were only $20 ea! I have some RCS in my stock pile of layout track, but I couldn't pass these switches up for only $20 ea. Will use them in a yard.
The Lionel Catalogs were free-I planned to buy them, but he gave them to me. Hard to see but there is also a 2013 Signature Catalog there.
The MR magazine was $1 with great articles on weathering steam engines (which is what I focus on).
The "Steam and Glory" magazine was also a $1, great article on UP FEF classes. Had to have it. Couldn't believe it when he told me it was a $1....
There wasn't much else left. Some rolling stock, but nothing I wanted.
Hate to see them close shop, but thankful for the deals! And, I forgot to buy the brass I was looking at, guess I'll go back tomorrow.
