Hello everybody, I was cruising through ebay when I found these prototypes for sale. I am not sure if these are real, but I am pretty sure they are real. Sadly I don't like auction but this might be an exception. Tell me what you think of them. I am not sure if these were ever seen by any other than the designers or the seller.

Whew! All tab and slot...no tilt fork, therefore no potential budget damage here. Interesting find, though. Hope some forumites, who have the interest, glomb these.
I wonder if these cars were the intended competition for the trains Unique Arts was making?
I agree the cars are pretty big
I thought the Marx 7" series, as I understand it Louis Marx got excited when Unique
offered its trains, was quickly developed to compete directly with Unique. Maybe those
cars are part of the 7" development effort that weren't chosen for market, although I can't tell what size the above cars are from the photos.
Greenberg Vol I on page 37 refers to them as 7" Plus cars, photos are on page 38. There was no explanation as to their intended use.

They sure do look like prototypes, especially with the Girard,Pa markings on the bottom. Girard was where Marx made their trains.
Tony Hay is offering those - he knows his Marx...
tony is known for selling prototypes too. I got one of the 41000 series tabletop prototypes from him a few months ago. After viewing the Marx factory pieces for a bit, you can spot the hand art work on them whether they have the Girard markings on them or not.

wonder what the truck ID was on these, how about "yet to be completed"?
They strike me as somewhere between folk and industrial art...as some pretty interesting examples of creative fooling around that never made it to market. If my coffers were not overflowing with Marx, I might take a stab...
Anybody can write Girard on the bottom of any marx car and make it look real.
These are most likely legit coming from a known collector and expert.
But as always be careful. I would need to see some sort of provenance to confirm that they are what is being sold.

That's what I was thinking too. These are the 7" that might have been.
I have personally known Tony for years and he is a very honest ,upstanding and extremely knowledgeable model railroader .
Who ever gets these will own some true blue Marx history
