I recently purchased a shell for a Lionel #41 Army switcher. It is in very good shape. Now I am trying to find the frame and chasis. The Greenberg manual states that a frame and chasis for a #42 can be used also. Is this accurate? Can any other frame and chasis be used with this shell?

I have the frame and chasis. Please delete.

Yes a 41 & 42 use the same frame and motor. You can also use the frame and motor from any of these - 51,53 & 56. The 58 rotary plow is similar but the armature is extended to receive the pulley which operates the plow blade but will also work. The 58 is rare and therefore hard to get and not needed for your use.        Lenny J

I have a 41 in the original box for sale if you would be interested. I have completely gone through it, new grease, cleaned etc. You could use your body and mine as a spare.  My body is good but one window strut has been cracked but is in place.  Contact through my email if interested.

Good news is these are extremely common so you won't have any problem getting the frame but you will probably have to buy the body too.
