From a Smoke Free Home

A great deal if you display your trains left to right.

Do you see something that I fail too see? Besides a basket case of rust? I dunno!

Why is this lot being shown on OGR?
The seller is asking two dollars for it.
Someone might be able to use some parts, or maybe even restore it.

I think Steve is just pointing out the irony (if that's the correct word here) of someone going out of their way to say "from a smoke free home" for an item in such poor condition.

I can't say we have a smoke free home. Not with the engines and smoke generator in buildings!!!  LOL

actually it's pretty good here. I frequent one car forum, and some members are so anal about spelling, newbies get chased away for daring to ask a question that has been asked in the last year(their search sucks) .

Is there ANY value in restoring that Hafner thing ?

 

Now that is a project!

As with any of the more common windup trains, I don't think you would make a profit on it, if that is what you mean.  However, the shell is a less common version of the Hafner 1010, so if it is one that you would like to have in your collection - and you don't mind restored examples - it would be well worth the asking price for a neat project.  I personally love projects like this, but I already have that exact locomotive (in better condition) that I need to get running (needs a mainspring and/or a mainspring hub, both common maladies of Hafner windups).

 

Still, 22 hours left on the auction, no bids... that little gem needs to go to a good home...
