Placed an order for 10 capacitors yesterday afternoon with DK and received an email a few hours later from their customer service that they'd been shipped. Why would I post about such a routine transaction you might ask.
I'm posting because the capacitors I ordered were exactly the ones gunrunnerjohn had identified on DK's website in a LED passenger car lighting thread 4 weeks ago; but, instead of ordering them, I tried to save a trivial sum by ordering from an eBay vendor with a US location promising delivery in 5-7 days.
Long story short, when I hadn't received the capacitors after 17 days, and not having heard from the seller, I contacted the seller and was advised that their US facility was out of stock and they would ship them from China with an additional 14 days required for delivery to me.
Yes, I received a $3.95 refund via eBay; and, yes, I paid $6.49 (of which $2.86 is postage) by purchasing from DK. But, I've concluded that spending an extra $.25 per capacitor with DK is preferable for my hobbyist interests than messing with the uncertainties of an off-shore vendor, and having to use eBay's Resolution Center on an inconsequential purchase. Said another way, I'd rather spend the extra couple of bucks with DK and get what I need promptly for a project and actually get to work on the project, than wonder when components I need might actually arrive. For me, a lesson learned.
EDIT: grj has also recommended off-shore (China) vendors for power supplies/modules for LED passenger car lighting and I've been very satisfied with those vendors. My DK purchasing will primarily be for the very inexpensive, but necessary, items (resistors, caps, etc.)
