card pick up shoegargrave switches

I am using Gargraves switches and have two styles. The switch on the right with the one pc center power rail does not activate the shoes on the log dump car and the barrel car. The switch on the left with the 2 rail construction on the center power rail makes contact with the shoe as it passes over. Can I convert the existing switch on the left to a one piece on the right (it is already installed on the layout complete with ballast)??? Or does anyone have any suggestions as how to fix the issue without modifying the swith??

I gave that a try. I have used fingernail polish before in situations to isolate power. It worked great. I just used nail polish without the rubber. But I had to connect the main center rail with the short center rail so as to maintain power for the pick up rollers on my engines. That was accomplished with pieces of forked electrical connectors. Thanks for the ideas.
