Gentlemen,

As some may know, I am working on a large 30X50 double deck affair.  I am using Gargraves track.  I do have some signal set ups from my past layout that use relays and work off of isolated rail sections so I am not grounding both outside rails unless necessary.  I noticed, while laying in about a 30 foot passing siding, that I have voltage "leaking" to the outside rail that should be completely isolated.  I removed the turnouts at each end and I still have 18 volts on one outside rail and 3.2 on the other with nothing but straight track.  Unless wood is now a conductor of electricity and I missed the memo, I'm a bit baffled here.

Ideas?

Troy

The siding is not yet ballasted.  There is nothing between those rails save for the ties.  I am noticing the same phenomenon on the layout as a whole.  I isolated and separated this section and am getting the same result.

Dang time to not have a small light bulb laying around.  I converted to LEDs a while back.  Multi meter shows 3.2 volts though.
