Hello; I'm taking a short trip to Germany at the beginning of Oct3 to 23. I will be visiting Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Nuremburg, and Munich. If you know of any shops selling tinplate trains or museums displaying them at these locations; I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks kindly, waynew (walter wayne)

Walter,
My wife and I went on a Rhine/Danube cruise in Nov of 2013. The only towns you list we visited were Cologne and Nuremberg. I will look to find some of the pics I took and add to this at later date. We began our cruise in Cologne, to Frankfurt and on down the Rhine/Mein/canals to Danube, finishing in Budapest.
All great destinations (though I've not been to Dresden).
I think the Toy Museum in Nuremburg has a little tinplate. I don't think there's tinplate, but the Deutsche Bahn museum in Nuremberg is also a must-see for any trainhead.
As far as I know there are no shops selling tinplate trains; there are lots of modeltrainshops, see here: http://www.stummi.de/links.htm.
An interesting museum for tinplate is the BING museum, this is in a small but very nice village "between" Nuremberg and Cologne: http://www.spielzeugmuseum-fre...e/english/index.html
When in Hamburg you should visit http://www.miniatur-wunderland.../visit/travel-guide/

Texastrain, Professor Chaos and sncf231e (Fred)----Thanks for your suggestions, I will look into them. Fred, thanks for list of shops, that's a real help. All the best, waynew
And I would be remiss in mentioning Nuremberg without highly recommending the Goldenes Posthorn for Nuremburg sausages, and especially Tucher beer - which is hard to find outside Franconia!
