I've a 2954 prewar scale box car with a broken roof walk that I need to open up to replace the part.  There are four pins at each corner that hold it together, but I cannot tell whether they are simply a friction fit pin or a screw.  They are not loose when I try rotating them and do not want to break the casting trying.  So I am trying to find out from you all whether I need to wiggle them loose or try to rotate them out, i.e. are they just a pin or a screw.

There was an earlier thread on this topic, but it did not say how the pins were removed.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks Dennis.  During the day, I soaked the pins in Liquid Wrench and this afternoon was able to twist two pins off, so at least I know they are pins and not screws.  From an earlier post, I found out that the trucks could be taken off from outside the car.  I found out that a tab held a plate in place and when bent down it allowed the plate to slide toward the end of the car allowing the trucks to drop off.  Made grabbing the pins much easier.

So, lets see if the Liquid Wrench does its job on the remaining two pins.
