While running this SET on the LAYOUT, the SCREW that Holds one of the Trucks fell out on the BNSF Tank Car.  Could not find it to save my Soul.  Anyone have a clue what this screw is.  Looked thru my "JUNK" Drawer, but could not find any that might work !!  Looked thru my collection of Trucks , but found none that would come close to working either !!!

Fred, A little trick that worked for me a couple times. I used a screwdriver Magnetizer, Demagnetizer available online for about $5.00. The hold is perfect height so the coupler of a locomotive can fit into it and I use a Geep with Proto 2 to push it around the layout, so it runs low speeds. The first time I tried it it did pick up the lost screw but also a Williams E60 pantograph spring that flew into space long time before. I hope this helps and any questions my email is in my profile.

The parts listing for that car, found from that set 84732

Option 1, buy exact screw from big L and pay too much for shipping https://www.lionelsupport.com/...-x-8.0-mm-x-.5-thd_2

A common M3 screw (because most new modern stuff is metric)

SCREW / WSHRHD / 3 mm x 8.0 mm x .5 thd

Again, m3 by 8mm just buy a screw assortment and problem solved.

Also- your friend since big L doesn't use any....

I just got done repairing a brand spanking new GP-9 2024 edition, with a coupler falling off because the M2.5 screw was both short so limited threads interlocking and zero loctite so the coupler fell off. Replaced that screw with a longer one and washer from an MTH parts bag- and added loctite.

I'm seeing a trend- Big L is most definitely using the shortest screws they can "get away with" and absolutely zero loctite anywhere to be found on almost all recent products. You might want to invest in metric screw assortments and bottles of loctite- maybe even taking them apart upon unboxing and going to town threadlocking screws. Again, near every screw I touch has minimal thread engagement, not a sign of any threadlocker to be seen.
