If Scott would offer the RF&P car that is also good for N&W and can be used with the Powhatan cars just received.
How about it Scott?

I'd rather see some true N&W Pm coaches, not some smorgasbord variant.
Jim: Variant or not it was used on the N&W and part of the N&W history. All would be needed is for Scott to use the PRR extra car and just re-letter it for the RF&P.

Are you thinking of the Pullman Standard 10-6 sleepers? Lot number 6792. These were built for PRR, N&W and RF&P. The RF&P cars may have seen service on SAL. As built they all were painted Tuscan with Pennsy striping but lettered for the owner. I doubt that GGD will do these since Lionel cataloged Pennsy smoothsides in 2016 vol2 Signature edition.
Steve
Oops, I thought they were talking about painted smooth side cars. No go here for the stainless.
Those 10-6 cars were also done for the L&N painted in Pennsy colors. He could also do the cars in their final colors as the N&W ended up painted in blue and maybe some other road's colors. I think the L&N ended up blue with the delux gold scroll lettering.
The L&N cars were built in a different lot than the N&W, RF&P cars, lot 6814 built Oct 1949. They were indeed painted blue in 1966. The cars from lot 6792 were built in Dec 1948. Of note, the N&W cars went to IC colors in 1963 before going to blue in 1967.

I've ordered the SAL Silver Meteor and additional cars. I would take an RF&P Budd Coach and a smooth side RF&P 10-6 smooth side in the Pennsy colors. The RF&P cars were regulars in the late 60s on the Florida trains. The smoothside L&N 10-6 sleepers would also be a hit with me as one could do the Southwind and other Florida remnants dependant on area and era. Interestingly the L&N 10-6 River series Sleepers wound up in Amtrak paint and were in Florida service for several years in the early 70s.
Seems to be some confusion about the Silver Meteor offering. What is being planned are the 5 Budd fluted cars - combine, coach, diner, 10 and 6 sleeper, observation and the Pullman Standard sun lounge car. Extra Budd fluted coaches and sleepers will be offered in PRR and RF&P lettering.
There are no plans in the Silver Meteor project for any smooth side sleepers as shown in some of the above posts.
The Sunset has not announced the RF&P car on their website. Are these going to be offered? Good sales come from good marketing!

Are the extra 60 seat coaches 21" cars or shorter?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Same cars as those in the 6 car set - 85 foot cars.
Sunset/3rd rail/Golden Gate does pretty much generic underbodies and interiors. I wonder if there is enough of a demand for him to do a certain amount without underbodies and interiors so we can detail it ourselves. I love the new cars which are correct on the outside and fabulous paint jobs but would like to do the correct interiors. The correct underbody and interiors would seriously raise the price if Scott did them. Just a passing thought.
Generic interiors may have been true for the Pullman Standard smooth side cars, but every GGD passenger car produced since based on a specific train has had the correct floor plan for the car.

Ken,
Jonathan already answered the issue on correct interiors. I am rather certain we will not see anything other than the generic underbodies on GGD cars. A friend of mine spent numerous hours putting the exact correct underbody on a GGD PRR 10 and 6 car. He said never again - too much effort for something that only he knows is there.
The one exception on under body detail was the Canadian. It has about 80-90% of the correct detailing. While it does make a difference, many people do not see the difference. Now that the price of an aluminum car is up to $285.00 getting this detail will be exceptionally difficult. While that cost may seem a little high, there is little profit per unit in these cars. I believe once they hit the $300 mark that will be the end of Aluminum car production.
Wow! Beautiful!!
The Budd 10-6 sleeper in this GGD set is fluted. Pullman also made a fluted 10-6 sleeper, but the fluting was not the same.
Budd:
PULLMAN:
The fluting above the windows on the Pullman car matches the fluting below the windows, whereas the fluting on the Budd car is smaller. Both cars have the smaller fluting on the roof, just can't see it in the above photos.
Then you have the smooth side cars. I haven't looked to see if ACF made any 10-6 cars, but I wouldn't mind seeing some ACF cars.
I'd like to see GGD offer individual cars and all the different railroads that owned them. I do believe he'd get more orders if we could but the exact car in the railroad we wanted without having to buy a 6-car set.
I've tried to make the PORTSMOUTH car, but nothing I can do will come close to what GGD has done with this new 6-car set.
Marty,
they are spectacular the miracle worker does it again !
Does anyone by chance have a complete list of offerings for the SAL car sets and the extra cars produced?

I don't think a set 2 was made. I haven't seen one. I would love to find an SAL set. I have a Sunset E6 SAL Classic on order.

Hard to tell for sure, but it looks like they corrected the small errors in those “Napoleon Hat” trucks. Kudos!

Are they still made out of aluminum? Have costs have risen more than 5% since 2016?

Just goes to show why I am a design consultant and not a business consultant for Scott.
That, plus you extrude thousands of feet at one time, then use them up over the years. The labor is in punching the windows, which requires time and tooling for each car.
I can cut my own windows - takes just under an hour per car, which can get expensive quickly these days.
@BobbyD posted:Wasn't sure if they were still aluminum or now plastic molded. The extrusion would seem to be way more flexible tooling than a mold.
They are still aluminum. Extruded aluminum is more flexible in allowing smaller runs of cars and windows are cut by CNC now so there is not tooling for a window punch. While tooling costs are lower, labor costs are higher to assemble the cars as there are more parts.
The Sunset Models SAL Silver Meteor cars are what pushed me over the edge to do the SAL in Central Florida in the 60s before the merger with the ACL. At some point I will update them with black trucks and some minor interior upgrades and window tint for complete accuracy. With the Sunset E Units these make for an awesome looking train!
See attachments for some mock ups on my O Scale 2 Rail layout in progress.
What a beautiful set @Railthunder fabulous.
I just love these sets Golden Gate Depot is doing. They are all so wonderful.
Seeing all these very important cars being done in O scale finally is a blessing.
