Santa Claus authorized a special Pre-Christmas Eve run of his brand new Gold Edition Polar Express train. This was to test out all of the systems to make sure that Christmas Eve goes smoothly. The Elves were so delighted to get their first look at the Gold Edition.

One elf asked Santa who gets to ride on this special train. Santa was overheard to say he is still working on the passenger list. But he did say you have to have a special Gold Edition ticket to ride.

Elizabeth and I are both huge PE fans. We love the book, and when the movie was released, Warner Brothers did a fantastic job and we very much enjoyed it. I purchased the first PE 0-27 set back in 2004, and when the scale 1225 was issued in 2010, it was an absolute must. I lobbied Matt Ashba heavily to produce the scale PE passenger cars and was delighted to see them catalogued. We added an RPO and Conductor Car to now make a set of nine scale blue & maroon PE passenger cars.

Last year when the Gold Edition Berkshire and passenger cars were announced, we looked at each other and immediately said they are a must have. At that time, the prices were not set in the catalog, but we knew Charles Ro would take care of us. So we were his first Charles Ro order for the Gold Berkshire and passenger cars.

As promised, Lionel said they would be in our hands before this Christmas and they sure delivered on that promise. I saw the production samples at the recent York Meet that we both liked, but what we received is far superior. This is just a beautiful Christmas train that I hope we can enjoy for many years to come.

If any Forum members are on the fence about the Gold Edition, I strongly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

The gold edition Berk is still listed on Charlie Ro's website.  Give the store a call and confirm.  They're usually very good about removing stuff from the website that's sold out.

PTC, perfect layout for a gold Polar Express train.

I just spent about 4 hours going back and forth trying to decide on purchasing this engine or not. It is amazing, and the new sounds they have with tom hanks quotes from the movie really make it awesome. What made my decision harder was that my wife started saying, wow that would be my new favorite, why don't you get it!

in the end I decided that if I have to think this hard about getting it, I probably shouldn't. There's a lot of trains I want for my layout, and for Christmas Im leaning towards maybe a standard gauge tinplate in the future.

so with that said now I have to enjoy everyone that purchased one! I need video and more photos. Can someone post pictures of the interior of the two coaches? I'm assuming the gold edition has the same sounds as the black?

one thing for sure is I bet this gold engine will be selling for at least 1500 a year from now, easy.
